The LIV Hong Kong 2024 Playoff: A Battle to Remember
The 2024 LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament was nothing short of spectacular, culminating in a dramatic playoff that had golf fans on the edge of their seats. Among the standout performers was 47-year-old veteran Paul Casey, a member of Crushers GC, who found himself in a three-man showdown for the title.
With tensions running high, Casey fought hard against his competitors, including Abraham Ancer, in an attempt to clinch the win. Despite a strong showing, it was Ancer who ultimately sealed the victory with a birdie on the first playoff hole, leaving Casey just short of the title.
For fans, it was a heartbreaking yet inspiring moment—a testament to Casey’s resilience and skill, even as he competes against younger players. However, what happened after the tournament was just as intriguing as the action on the course.

Bryson DeChambeau’s Candid Take on His Teammate’s Performance
As the captain of Crushers GC, Bryson DeChambeau did not hold back when discussing his thoughts on the intense playoff and his veteran teammate. Speaking about Casey’s close finish, DeChambeau showed both admiration and his characteristic competitive spirit.
“Paul played great, no doubt about it. But as much as I respect him, I’m not letting him take all the spotlight. I told him right after the round, ‘I’m coming for you next week.’ That’s just how we push each other,” DeChambeau shared in a post-event interview.

However, behind the scenes, sources close to Crushers GC have hinted at tensions brewing within the team, particularly regarding DeChambeau’s leadership style and how it meshes with seasoned players like Casey.

Locker Room Feud: A Clash of Styles and Expectations
While DeChambeau is known for his analytical approach to the game, Casey comes from an era where instinct and experience often take precedence. These differing philosophies may have contributed to friction behind closed doors.
Reports suggest that a disagreement arose between the two after Casey’s playoff loss. According to insiders, Casey was frustrated by what he perceived as DeChambeau’s lack of emotional support following the heartbreaking defeat.
“Paul expected more empathy from Bryson, but Bryson’s mindset is always about what’s next. It’s not personal—it’s just how he operates,” an anonymous source revealed.
This tension is nothing new in professional golf, where differing mentalities often create rifts within teams. While both players remain committed to Crushers GC, the locker room dynamics could play a significant role in how they perform in upcoming events.
