Katya Jones, one of the most popular professional dancers on BBC’s *Strictly Come Dancing*, has spoken out about the rumors suggesting she might be leaving the show.
The speculations came after reports indicated that she, alongside fellow dancers Neil Jones, Gorka Marquez,
and Johannes Radebe, could be among those facing the axe as part of a major shake-up on the show.
These rumors have taken over social media and the entertainment world, sparking concern among Katya’s fans about her future on the BBC dance competition.
Sources claimed that *Strictly* bosses were conducting a review of the lineup,
and decisions would be based on how the professionals performed in the most recent season.
According to insiders, several of the dancers who were eliminated early on were now considered at risk of being cut. For those dancers, this news couldn’t have come at a worse time, as it is a major point in the season when *Strictly* looks to make adjustments for the next series.
Katya Jones, who has been a fixture on the show for nearly a decade, responded to the speculation in an exclusive interview with *The Mirror*. “Am I hoping to be back? Well, this year would be my 10th on *Strictly*, so I am hoping for a round number,” she said. Katya’s words indicate that she’s hopeful about continuing her long-standing career on the show.
Throughout her tenure on *Strictly Come Dancing*, Katya has become a fan favorite. Her energy, skill, and engaging personality have made her one of the most beloved professionals in the show’s history. She and her celebrity partners, including notable names like Ed Balls and Joe McFadden, have created memorable moments for audiences, building a solid reputation over the years.
During the most recent series, Katya was paired with Welsh tenor Wynne Evans. The duo found themselves in the media spotlight when a “silly joke” between them caused an awkward moment on live television. During one performance, Katya was seen repositioning Wynne’s hand away from her waist, leading viewers to speculate that she seemed uncomfortable. The situation sparked a flurry of headlines, but both Katya and Wynne quickly addressed the incident on *It Takes Two*.
Katya explained that the incident was an inside joke between the two, and although it was a playful moment, it had been misinterpreted. “I just want to get something out of the way that I feel overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason,” Katya said. She made it clear that the moment was intended as a harmless, silly joke and stressed that Wynne was a close friend. Wynne also added that the situation had been blown out of proportion, expressing his hurt over the misunderstanding. Both dancers took the time to apologize, and the matter was soon put to rest.
The controversy surrounding the incident didn’t seem to hinder Katya and Wynne’s relationship or their career. The pair have since been reunited for the *Strictly Come Dancing: Live Tour*, where they are performing together, much to the delight of fans. The live tour features various other celebrity-professional pairings, including Jamie Borthwick & Michelle Tsiakkas, Montell Douglas & Kai Widdrington, and Tasha Ghouri & Aljaž Škorjanec, among others.
Despite the swirling rumors about potential cuts to the show’s roster, Katya Jones remains hopeful for a long tenure with *Strictly Come Dancing*. Fans will no doubt continue to show their support for the talented dancer, who has brought years of grace, enthusiasm, and expertise to the dance floor. If this year marks her 10th anniversary on the show, Katya’s hopes for a “round number” could signal the continuation of an iconic partnership between the star and one of Britain’s most cherished dance competitions.
As the new season of *Strictly* approaches, it remains to be seen whether any professional dancers will indeed be axed. But for now, Katya’s fans can rest easy, knowing that she is hoping for a continued place on the show she has made her own.
