Daisy May Cooper caused quite a stir during her recent appearance on This Morning, leaving viewers divided after openly flirting with presenter Ben Shephard.
The 38-year-old actress, known for her comedic personality, made no secret of her admiration for Ben, using a playful yet questionable pick-up line
that some fans found endearing while others labeled it “creepy.”
Daisy’s Shameless Admiration for Ben
The actress, best known for her role in Am I Being Unreasonable?, joined This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Tuesday to discuss the return of her hit TV show.
However, the interview quickly took an amusing turn when Daisy expressed her admiration for Ben in no uncertain terms.
Right from the start, Daisy’s excitement was palpable. As she settled onto the sofa, she gushed, “I just think you’re perfect. You’ve got such a symmetrical face. You are wonderful. I am shaking. I am not going to get creepy, I promise.”
Despite her assurance, some viewers felt her approach crossed a line, particularly when she blurted out, “I just think you’re very handsome.”
A History of Fangirling
Host Cat Deeley reminded Daisy that this wasn’t the first time she had publicly swooned over Ben. The show then played a throwback clip of Daisy from a previous interview where she dramatically mimed to Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You while gazing at a picture of Ben. The montage also included a memorable moment from Good Morning Britain in February 2023 when Daisy stormed onto the set wrapped in a blanket featuring Ben’s face.
At the time, Ben humorously acknowledged the moment, saying, “Can we just have a moment… Can we go to the break?” while noticing Daisy visibly shaking with excitement. Co-host Susanna Reid even commented, “Daisy May has a huge crush on Ben Shephard.”
Viewers React: Cute or Creepy?
As expected, social media users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on Daisy’s flirtatious antics.
One unimpressed viewer wrote, “I’m sorry but this is creepy.”
Another echoed the sentiment, stating, “Daisy, you’re already coming across as creepy! If it was Ben saying this stuff, there would be an uproar, just stop!”
A third user added, “Imagine the backlash if the roles were reversed. #ThisMorning Creepy as f**k.”
However, not everyone was put off by Daisy’s enthusiasm.
One supportive fan tweeted, “Daisy May Cooper; I totally agree with you.”
Another joked, “Daisy May Cooper isn’t Ben’s number one fan. We all know that Mary Taylor from Coronation Street is! Fact! #Corrie #ThisMorning.”
A Special Gift from Cat Deeley
Adding to the lighthearted atmosphere, Cat Deeley presented Daisy with a unique gift—a diffuser infused with Ben Shephard’s scent. The thoughtful (and humorous) gesture had Daisy grinning as she excitedly responded, “I’m going to put that on my pillows.”
Discussing Am I Being Unreasonable?
Beyond her flirty banter with Ben, Daisy also spoke about the highly anticipated second season of her dark comedy series Am I Being Unreasonable? She revealed that the follow-up installment had been in the works for nearly three years.
“We had to go through every single scenario with every character—anything you could ever think of, we’ve thought of it, and it’s been on a post-it note in my bedroom,” she explained. “After many breakdowns and watching MAFS UK to distract ourselves, we finally came up with the second series.”
When asked where the new season picks up, Daisy teased, “We pick up half an hour after series one left off. It’s a bit mad because since then I’ve lost about five pounds and I’ve had my lips done. So just go with it, just go with it. It’s funny—there’s a flashback where I have no lips, and suddenly I look like Donald Duck.”
A Playful Yet Divisive Moment
While Daisy May Cooper’s flirtatious antics entertained some and unsettled others, one thing is certain—her admiration for Ben Shephard is as strong as ever. Whether fans found her remarks endearing or uncomfortable, her humor and candid personality undoubtedly made for a memorable segment on This Morning.
