This Morning viewers were left buzzing with reactions after an awkward moment unfolded on the February 17 episode of the ITV daytime show.
During the cooking segment, celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna made a slip-up that led her to issue a live apology.
However, what really caught fans’ attention was host Dermot O’Leary’s apparent irritation throughout the segment, which many viewers quickly picked up on.
Clodagh McKenna’s On-Air Apology
During the live cooking demonstration, Clodagh, joined by hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, was preparing a dish she called a “frittart”—a hybrid between a frittata and a tart.
However, as she playfully joked about the pronunciation, she accidentally said what sounded like “fricken tart,” a phrase that immediately raised eyebrows.
Realising that her choice of words might not have been suitable for daytime television, Clodagh quickly backtracked and apologised on air.
🗨 “Oh. I probably shouldn’t have said that. That was a bit on the edge, wasn’t it? I’m sorry to anyone I might have offended,” she said.
Alison Hammond found the moment amusing, laughing along with the unexpected slip. However, Dermot O’Leary appeared less entertained, responding by telling Clodagh that her comment was “borderline.”
Did Dermot O’Leary Look ‘Annoyed’?
While the exchange over Clodagh’s comment was lighthearted, viewers couldn’t help but notice that Dermot’s overall demeanor during the segment seemed off. Throughout the cooking demonstration, he appeared impatient and repeatedly urged Clodagh to hurry up as he was eager to eat.
Once the dish was ready, Dermot wasted no time digging in, eating quickly and barely commenting on the food itself. His attitude didn’t go unnoticed by This Morning fans, many of whom took to social media to discuss his apparent frustration.
Fans React to Dermot’s Behavior
As the segment aired, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) became flooded with comments from viewers who felt Dermot’s annoyance was obvious. Some speculated that he finds Clodagh’s energy overwhelming, while others thought he was simply too hungry to be patient.
🗨 “Dermot finds Clodagh super annoying. And he struggles to hide it,” one viewer claimed.
🗨 “Dermot. FFS. Shut up!” another unimpressed fan wrote.
Meanwhile, another viewer called for a change in how cooking segments are structured on the show, saying:
🗨 “This Morning, please remove the presenters from the cooking segments. Ruined it again this morning by the two jabbering about nothing.”
However, not everyone felt the tension, and some fans took the opportunity to praise Clodagh for her warm and relatable personality.
🗨 “Clodagh is keeping it real. I love to see that,” one supporter wrote.
A Lighthearted Moment or Genuine Frustration?
While some viewers interpreted Dermot’s reactions as irritation towards Clodagh, others argued that he was simply playing up his hunger for comedic effect. After all, Dermot and Alison are known for their playful banter with the show’s guests, and it wouldn’t be the first time a cooking segment turned into a bit of chaotic fun.
Regardless, Clodagh’s slip-up and Dermot’s demeanor made for a talking point, proving once again that live television is never short of unpredictable moments. Whether Dermot was actually annoyed or just hungry, one thing is certain—This Morning fans never miss a thing!
