Longtime “Today” show weatherman Al Roker recently shared a surprising revelation
about his musical aspirations after one of the most beloved boy bands made a special appearance on the NBC morning program.
Earlier this week, the Backstreet Boys visited the “Today” show to perform and chat with the hosts, much to the delight of their fans—and apparently, Roker himself.
Roker Poses with the Backstreet Boys
During their visit, the Backstreet Boys entertained the audience with their signature harmonies and dynamic stage presence.
Roker, 70, was in the building for the occasion and later posted a series of snapshots from the event on Instagram.
One standout photo featured the veteran weather correspondent standing front and center, surrounded by the five members of the iconic boy band.
In his Instagram caption, Roker playfully hinted at his admiration for the group, writing, “Okay. One more time. That’s what happens when you are moving too fast.” He then went on to express his enthusiasm for the Backstreet Boys, saying, “While I love those other guys, @backstreetboys are the jam. I hope I can still be a backup backstreeter.”
Fans Encourage Roker’s Boy Band Aspirations
Roker’s lighthearted post was met with enthusiasm from his followers, who flooded the comments with support and encouragement for his boy band ambitions.
One fan humorously urged, “Do it, just do it 😂❤️,” while another confidently assured him, “😂 yes, yes you can.” Others took the opportunity to praise the Backstreet Boys’ live performance, expressing their excitement over seeing the legendary group back on stage.
“Backstreet’s back on TODAY! Alright! Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!” one user wrote.
Another viewer commented, “Too cool 👏,” while someone else noted, “They were great! I like watching you watching them during the third hour.”
‘Today’ Captures the Hosts Enjoying the Show
Beyond the social media buzz, the “Today” show itself joined in on the excitement, posting a clip from the band’s performance. However, instead of zooming in on the Backstreet Boys, the video amusingly focused on Roker and his co-hosts, Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer. The three were spotted enjoying the show from the crowd, with both Roker and Melvin grooving to the beat while Dreyer smiled beside them, appreciating the moment.
Backstreet Boys Announce Las Vegas Residency and New Album
The Backstreet Boys appeared on the “Today” show not just to perform, but also to share some exciting news about their career. The group announced their upcoming Las Vegas residency at the Sphere, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue in Nevada. Alongside their residency, the boy band revealed plans for a brand-new album titled Millennium 2.0.
The highly anticipated album is scheduled for release on July 11, the same day their residency kicks off. Fans of the group are eagerly awaiting both the album and the live performances, marking another exciting chapter in the Backstreet Boys’ storied career.
Roker’s Unexpected Love for Boy Bands
While Roker is best known for delivering the weather, his enthusiasm for music—particularly for boy bands—has taken many fans by surprise. Over the years, Roker has interviewed countless celebrities, but his playful desire to join the Backstreet Boys proves that even seasoned television personalities can still have big dreams.
As he continues to charm audiences on the “Today” show, perhaps Roker will get a chance to make a cameo with the Backstreet Boys—if not as an official member, then at least as an honorary one. Until then, fans can enjoy his humorous take on his boy band aspirations and look forward to more entertaining moments from the beloved morning show host.
