Stacey Solomon was left in tears during an emotional episode of Sort Your Life Out

when a terminally ill mother revealed the heartfelt farewell gift she had prepared for her young daughter.
The latest installment of the BBC show featured Ben and Lynda Brearly-Baird from Leeds, along with their five-year-old daughter Charlotte,
as Stacey and her team helped them declutter and reorganize their home.

A Mother’s Unbreakable Bond with Her Daughter

Lynda, who had been diagnosed with cancer, was open about preparing for a future she knew she wouldn’t be a part of.

As she sorted through her belongings, she shared a deeply personal and emotional revelation with Stacey.
“Unfortunately, at some point, I won’t be here anymore,” Lynda said, holding a special box she had prepared for Charlotte. She went on to explain that she had also been writing in a notebook, filling it with thoughts and messages she wanted to share with her daughter as she grew older.
“I’ve got a notebook with random thoughts—things I would probably say to her when she’s a teenager or when she’s a bit older,” she continued. “My aim is to do something for her wedding day, or if she ever has children—if I were there, this is what I’d be thinking.”
Hearing Lynda’s words, Stacey was visibly moved. She embraced Lynda, offering comfort and support as she took in the magnitude of the moment.

The Weight of Leaving Memories Behind
Lynda admitted that one of her biggest fears was that Charlotte might not remember her as she grew up. “I want her to remember me,” she said softly.
Stacey, deeply touched, responded with heartfelt honesty: “I don’t want to stand here and pretend like I have any idea what that must feel like—it must be heartbreaking. But it’s incredible to see how happy Charlotte is.”
Lynda explained that writing the notebooks gave her a sense of control over the future. “After being diagnosed, I started the notebooks for Charlotte. She’s going to be a child that grows up without a mum. At least by doing this, I’ve got my voice there,” she shared.

Her words resonated with Stacey, who later spoke directly to the camera, struggling to hold back her own emotions. “I’ve never gone through a section where somebody is aware that there will be memories they’re going to miss. I don’t want to get upset because I feel like that’s not my job—I’m here to help this family. And it’s not happening to me; it’s happening to them,” she said, placing her face in her hands.
An Emotional Response from Viewers
Lynda’s story struck a chord with audiences, many of whom took to social media to express their emotions.

One viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“@StaceySolomon Just cried with you. What a beautiful family, and little Charlotte is adorable. She’s a very special lady. I’m in bits already. Life is so cruel. Time is a gift. #SortYourLifeOut”
Another echoed similar sentiments:
“This is one of the most emotional episodes I’ve watched. What a beautiful family—so loving and touching. Stacey is just the right person to be with them on their journey. Life is so unfair at times. #SortYourLifeOut”

A third viewer simply admitted:
“I usually cry at Sort Your Life Out, but only at the end. This week, I didn’t even make it halfway through.”
The overwhelming support for Lynda and her family showcased just how deeply her story resonated with viewers across the country.
Another Heartbreaking Episode in a Powerful Series
This isn’t the first time Sort Your Life Out has tackled emotional and deeply personal stories. In a previous episode, Stacey and her team helped the Appleyard family from West Sussex, who were dealing with the devastating loss of two babies.

While decluttering their home, mother-of-four Helen came across a striped fleece and immediately knew she couldn’t part with it. “That can’t go,” she told Stacey, revealing that she had been wearing the jumper when she gave birth to her daughter Eleanor, who was stillborn.
Fighting back tears, Helen recounted the heartbreaking moment she was told, “Your baby has no heartbeat.”
As both parents broke down, Stacey stood beside them, visibly emotional, while husband Phil comforted his wife. The episode served as another reminder of the deeply personal and meaningful connections people have with their belongings—and the power of preserving memories.

A Show That Goes Beyond Decluttering
While Sort Your Life Out is known for helping families organize their homes, it has also become a space for powerful and emotional storytelling. Stacey and her team—including decluttering expert Dilly Carter, carpenter Iwan Carrington, and cleaning specialist Robert Bent—help families not just by tidying up their spaces, but by creating environments that support healing, memories, and new beginnings.
Lynda’s story on this week’s episode was a poignant reminder of the love between a mother and her child, and the lengths a parent will go to ensure their child feels their presence, even when they are no longer there.

As the show continues, it’s clear that Sort Your Life Out isn’t just about organization—it’s about cherishing the moments, memories, and love that make a house a home.
