Michael Strahan playfully called out his Good Morning America co-star Robin Roberts on Thursday, October 24,

when she seemingly tried to justify scooping up an armful of Taylor Swift merchandise.
During the lively segment, Robin was joined by George Stephanopoulos,
Sam Champion, and Lara Spencer as they discussed the frenzy surrounding Taylor Swift’s merchandise and the explosion of the friendship bracelet trend.

However, what caught viewers’ attention was Robin’s enthusiastic collection of the displayed memorabilia.

As she gathered the merchandise, Robin explained, “I’ve got a lot of trading to do. It’s my goddaughter’s 16th birthday, and she wants to see Taylor.”

Her statement, however, was met with immediate skepticism from her co-hosts. Sam and Michael weren’t convinced and wasted no time playfully calling her out on live television.
“Robin, I love how you blame your goddaughter,” Michael teased, laughing. “They’re for you! Own up to it, it’s okay—everyone loves Taylor Swift!”
Sam chimed in, jokingly adding, “You’ve already seen the Eras Tour 500 times!” while the rest of the team burst into laughter. Robin, known for her good-natured humor, smiled but didn’t exactly deny the accusation.
While Robin might not have attended the Eras Tour 500 times, she did travel to London earlier in August to catch Taylor Swift’s iconic performance at Wembley Stadium. Ahead of the concert, she shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a selfie with her wife, Amber Laign, captioned, “Headed to Wembley!” She also gave fans a peek at the dozens of friendship bracelets she had carefully crafted in preparation for the show.
For the highly anticipated event, Robin dressed in a dazzling blue tracksuit, an apparent tribute to Taylor’s Midnights era. Taylor’s sold-out Wembley concerts were among the highlights of the European leg of the Eras Tour, making history as she became the first solo artist to perform eight shows at the iconic venue during a single tour.

Robin wasn’t the only GMA anchor who had been swept up in Swift-mania. Lara Spencer had attended the show once, while George Stephanopoulos reportedly saw it twice, including a recent weekend performance in Miami, Florida. George had previously revealed his admiration for Taylor on-air in July, discussing how her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, shattered records previously held by the legendary Whitney Houston, spending 12 consecutive weeks at the number one spot.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, her first tour since the Reputation stadium tour in 2018, kicked off on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona. Since then, the tour has captivated audiences across North America, Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. She wrapped up the European leg with five nights in London before returning to North America for additional dates in the U.S. and Canada. The grand finale of the tour is set to take place in Vancouver, Canada, in December 2024.

Beyond the music and spectacle, Taylor Swift has also made headlines for her philanthropy throughout the tour. It was recently revealed that the superstar has made significant donations to food banks in every city she has performed in. Furthermore, in October, Feeding America confirmed that she had contributed $5 million to aid hurricane relief efforts, helping communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The segment on Good Morning America not only highlighted the ongoing excitement surrounding Taylor Swift’s tour but also showcased the playful camaraderie among the morning show’s anchors. Robin may have claimed that the Taylor Swift merchandise was for her goddaughter, but her enthusiasm for the pop icon was undeniable. Whether or not she was collecting the items for trading—or keeping a few for herself—remains up for debate, but one thing is certain: Robin, like millions of fans worldwide, is fully embracing the magic of the Eras Tour.
