Lily Allen has spoken candidly about her recent stay in a trauma treatment centre, revealing that she took time away to focus on her mental health before returning to work.

The singer and podcast host, 39, stepped away from her podcast Miss Me?,
which she co-hosts with close friend Miquita Oliver, to seek treatment in the U.S. for a few weeks.
Lily’s Emotional Return to Podcasting

In the latest episode of Miss Me?, released on Thursday, Lily shared her experience of undergoing therapy and self-healing.

Expressing her gratitude for the break, she said, “I just feel very grateful to have been given the time and the space that I needed.”

Her co-host, Miquita, warmly welcomed her back, saying, “I’m so happy you’re back, babe.”
Lily then elaborated on her time away, explaining that she had stayed at a treatment centre, where she engaged in both group and individual therapy.
“Well … I went into a sort of treatment centre for a few weeks, which was great. I did lots of group therapy and some individual therapy. I needed some time and space away from everything,” she explained.
She also mentioned engaging in “shadow work”—a psychological practice that involves confronting and healing past traumas and inner child wounds.

“Not easy by any stretch, and it’s a journey, y’know. It’s a lifelong journey of healing. It’s not a quick fix,” Lily admitted.
New Healing Practices: Meditation and Self-Care
As part of her self-care routine, Lily shared that she has now adopted meditation into her daily life.
“I’ve started meditating—I meditate at least two or three times a day now. That’s really helping me,” she said.

The singer-turned-podcast host appears to be focusing on mindfulness and emotional regulation as she continues to navigate this challenging period in her life.
Prioritizing Her Children Amid Emotional Struggles
One of the most emotional moments of the podcast episode came when Lily addressed misconceptions about her relationship with her children.
“People think that I hate my children. I really don’t. I absolutely adore my children, and I’m in a situation now where I really have to be my strongest self for them,” she said.

She explained that her mental state had made it increasingly difficult for her to be the kind of mother she wanted to be.
“It was getting harder and harder for me to be able to show up for them in the way that they need me to,” she confessed.
Acknowledging the difficulty of stepping away from her children for treatment, Lily said the decision was ultimately for their benefit.
“It was a big decision to have to leave them for a few weeks to go and focus on myself, but ultimately it was for them. Yes, it’s for me, but it’s for them, so that I can get us through this bit. I needed some help to be able to do that.”

Lily stressed that she never wanted her children to feel responsible for her emotional well-being.
“I don’t want them to ever feel like they have to prop me up. None of this is their fault, and it’s my job to support them and make them feel safe and secure. I just don’t think I was able to do that because of the emotional turmoil I was in at the time. But I do feel like I am now,” she said.
While acknowledging that she’s still on her healing journey, Lily expressed confidence that she is now in a stronger place.
“I’m not saying I’m 100 percent there, and I’m not saying that I’m getting it 100 percent right or ever will, but I’m definitely in a stronger place.”

Speculation Surrounding Her Marriage to David Harbour
Lily’s decision to take time away from her podcast came after reports surfaced that she had separated from her husband, Stranger Things star David Harbour. While she has yet to explicitly confirm the split, Harbour appeared to suggest that their marriage had ended during a recent interview.
Prior to her treatment stay, Lily had expressed her struggles with overwhelming emotional distress. In a podcast episode released on January 9, she admitted to feeling mentally drained.
“I’m finding it really hard to be interested in anything. I’m just so … I’m really not in a good place,” she revealed.

She explained that she had been struggling for months, saying, “I’ve been spiralling and spiralling. […] I went to see something at the theatre the other night with [friends] and I had to leave at half time.”
Describing the weight of her emotional pain, she continued, “I just can’t concentrate on anything except the pain that I’m going through. It’s really hard.”
At the time, she announced that she would be taking a break from the podcast, telling listeners, “I’m going away next week. You’re not going to hear me for a few weeks.”
She also clarified that she was not checking into rehab for substance abuse, preemptively addressing any speculation.

“I’m not going to drug rehab,” she said, adding that she anticipated people might assume otherwise due to the length of time she planned to be away.
Moving Forward with a Fresh Perspective
Now back to work and committed to her healing process, Lily appears determined to take control of her mental well-being. With therapy, meditation, and a new focus on self-care, she is working to rebuild her life while ensuring she remains a strong and supportive mother to her children.
While the reported split from David Harbour remains unconfirmed, it is clear that Lily is focusing on her personal growth and emotional resilience during this difficult time.

Her candid discussion on Miss Me? is yet another example of her openness about mental health struggles—a conversation that continues to resonate with many of her fans.
