Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are busy in Colombia this week on their cultural tour of the country and it seems that the royal family is stewing about their latest philanthropic visit.
The Sussexes’ recent trips have reportedly irked the palace and there might be consequences involving their royal titles.
A source for the Express noted that a “royal family summit” will be held at Balmoral during the annual summer vacation.
“The Royal Family are meeting at Balmoral to discuss a number of different things, but one of them will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the palace insider claimed.
“What people don’t realize is that the Balmoral gathering isn’t just a summer holiday.
The family also participates in pre-arranged meetings where they discuss the family’s current position and how they can best prepare for the future.”
Since last year was the first summer without Queen Elizabeth II, the royal family took the time to reflect on her legacy. This year, they are reportedly thinking about “how the family can best move forward without the Sussexes.” It seems their work with the Invictus Games and the invitations by heads of state are a sore point with King Charles II and Prince William. “Not only will Harry and Meghan’s tours and upcoming trip to Canada be on the agenda, but also their titles and peerages will be up for discussion,” they added.
This hot topic of conversation has been discussed continually since Harry and Meghan exited the royal family in 2020. Tom Quinn, author of Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle, told The Mirror in May that “Charles and William have had lengthy discussions about stripping Meghan and Harry of their royal titles.” He doesn’t believe either royal will go through with it because of the PR mess it would likely create for them.
“They are terrified this would backfire and make the situation worse,” Quinn noted “The last thing they want is to give the renegade royals something else to complain about. William and his father know that even without their royal titles Meghan and Harry would carry on traveling the world as if they were royals and most people in the world will still welcome them.” It’s true that Harry’s Invictus Games has turned out to be a tremendous success and has drawn a positive response around the globe. Countries are courting the Sussexes to bring the sporting event to their area, and a royal title or no royal title is going to deter them. However, the royal title conversation will continue as long as the family feud stays on a slow boil.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s philanthropic work in Colombia has once again stirred up some tension within the royal family. Reports suggest that their recent activities have not gone down well with certain members of the palace, leading to discussions about potential consequences for their royal titles. A source close to the royal family revealed that a summit will be taking place at Balmoral during their summer break to address this issue among others. The Balmoral gathering serves as more than just a summer retreat for the royals. It is a time for them to evaluate the family’s current standing and strategize for the future. With Queen Elizabeth II’s absence last year, the focus was on preserving her legacy. This year, the discussions are centered around how the family can move forward without the presence of the Sussexes.Particularly contentious are Harry and Meghan’s involvement with the Invictus Games and the attention they continue to receive from world leaders. This has not gone unnoticed by King Charles II and Prince William, who view their actions with skepticism. As talks unfold, the fate of the Sussexes’ titles and positions within the royal hierarchy will be up for debate.Speculation about possibly stripping Harry and Meghan of their royal titles has been circulating for some time now. However, experts suggest that such a move could prove to be counterproductive, potentially fueling further resentment from the couple. Despite their official titles, the Sussexes have proven that they can command international attention and support for their causes. The success of Harry’s Invictus Games is a testament to this fact. Countries are eager to host the event, regardless of the royal titles associated with it. It seems that Harry and Meghan’s influence transcends mere titles and official positions, raising questions about the relevance of such distinctions in today’s world. As the discussions at Balmoral unfold, the future of the Sussexes within the royal family hangs in the balance. While the debate around their titles continues, it is clear that Harry and Meghan have carved out a unique role for themselves on the global stage. The outcome of the summit remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – the Sussexes’ impact will be felt far beyond the boundaries of the royal household. Stay tuned for more updates on this story and other royal news as it unfolds.
